This painter is hard to believe to be of Russian roots though he was born in Dvinsk, that time it was the town in the territory of Russia and now it is Daugavpils, Latvia. When a boy was 10 years old, the family immigrated to USA, where young Mark studied at the Yale University and later on at the Arts League for students in New York. First paintings by Rothko were in the realism style and only in 40s the works by him quickly evolved from dreamy compositions and Greek tragedy plots to absolutely pointless shapes. To the early 50s he even simplified the structure of his paintings to two-three zones of bright clear color. And these exact works are most valuable among others.

Well, let's come back to paintings again. The Russian artist Natalya Goncharova' life and artworks match harmonically, she never faced difficulties or catastrophes in her artistic life. In the opinion of the Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva who often visited Goncharova «First, Nataly Goncharova always works, second, she works everywhere, and third, she all her work. All the topics, the sizes, all ways of creation with oil, watercolor, tempera, crayon, pencil, color pencils, charcoal- what else? She is involved in all spheres of painting, she starts everything and wins. She is the art phenomenon as well as the there is the natural phenomenon». The offspring could evaluate her artworks adequately when her «Flowers» from 1912 was sold for $10,9 million at Sotheby's this year. The previous year the other work by Picking Apples from 1909 for $9,9 million.

There are so many talented Russian painters, though some of them are still unknown to the wide public, and their names will be revealed only when their paintings are sold for a fortune at the world's famous auctions.
