Brigitte Bardot – a Naïve witch or a Wanton Virgin?
Sunday, 29 August 2010
There is no
a famous actress in our times that evoked such opposite opinions with the wide
public as Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot. Mostly known as Brigitte Bardot
she is still popular and loved. This legendary actress was acknowledged the
symbol of sexual revolution in her young period and yet, the sexual revolution
was initiated by her and the range of perception of her is too wide. She is he
woman perceived by various people differently. Long time ago Brigitte was known
as the first beauty of the cinematography and currently she is the main witch
of France and Europe. And what is the reason of such a drastic turn in opinion
of the society regarding Brigitte?
Brigitte Bardot was an epoch for people living within
50s-70s of the previous century. She was born on September 28, 1934 in Paris
to the family of the prosperous bourgeois family. Her father was a big fish in
commerce and her mother failed to become a great actress. From the
childhood Brigitte was keen on creative aspects of live ignoring such things as
school and study. At the age
of thirteen Brigitte was selected to the National Academy of Dance (only eight
girls out of 130 passed the exam), where she studied within three years to the
basics of Russian ballet choreography trained by Boris Knyazev. A bit later she
got concerned in something more attractive than dancing when she modeled in a
fashion show by the advice of her mother. Sooner in 1952 she started her
cinema career when she featured in the movie «Trou normand».
At the age
of eighteen she married to Roger Vadim, the promising director with the Russian
roots. Vadim committed to make Brigitte the symbol of the entire generation. Though
that was not the fairy tale and within four years within 1952 to 1956 Bardot
featured in more than twenty movies, and none of them was successful. The
film by Vadim «Et Dieu... crea la femme/And God Created Woman» (1956) paid her scot
and lot for all previous sidetracks and this movie made Brigitte famous. It is not
just fame but the name Brigitte became popular and she became the phenomenon. On the one part, Bardot was depicted
in the picture at one of the artistic exhibitions in Vatican in 60s associated with the
sin and on the other part the bust of Bardot served as a sample for the
national symbol of France, Marianne.
After 1956 Bardot featured in over 30 movies and she completed
her career when she was 39, in
1973 when she refused to appear in public with visual ageing changes on her
face. By that time the personal
life of the actress was rigorously discussed and it was the subject of
scandals. Brigitte married several times after she
divorced with Roger Vadim. She was the wife to the actor Jacques
Charrier by whom she had her only child, a son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, then
she married to the German millionaire playboy Gunter Sachs, and Bernard
d'Ormale with whom she lives till now since 1992. Her affairs
with Jean-Louis Trintignant, musicians Serge Gainsbourg and Sacha Distel are
worth mentioning.
Currently Bardot
is considered a witch not due to her active personal life since a rare
celebrity leads a modest life with the strong family traditions. First of all, the
society is shocked with the fact that Brigitte Bardot looks like an old woman frayed
at the edges and she has nothing of her former beauty left. The other reason of
the social negative emotions towards her is the position she keeps. This
is radicalism teling in
one word. Bardot is the radical protector of animal rights.
In 1986 she established the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for
the Welfare and Protection of Animals.
She is now a vegetarian
and she is a strong animal rights activist. She condemns seal hunting, she is against
fur clothes and holding animals in captivity, including zoos. She is for the humanistic solution to such vital
problems as lessening of number of homeless dogs with the help of sterilization
not mercy killing. And Bardot tries her best to achieve all these goals with
the typical intransigence which goes to fanaticism.
Furthermore, the main reason of negative attitude to Brigitte
is the unconcealed radical political opinion. Since the end of 80s and till now
Bardot has been regularly fined for public announcements by the French
jurisdiction made in public interviews, public speeches and autobiography
records often characterized as «non-politically correct». Bardot announces that she is really concerned
with the active penetration of Islam into Europe, worsening of positions of
traditional Christian culture, diffusing of French nation due to inflow of «blood»
from Africa and Middle East. On the top of it,
Brigitte holds the opinion so opposite for the modern show-biz and glamour
society in regards to sexual minority. These facts are more than enough for the
European public opinion to make an idol into a witch and social outcast of
civilization.
Here Bardot
is prohibited to announce her personal opinion ignoring the fact that she never
appeals to any violent actions against Muslims or homosexuals. She just voices
her concern in the situation that troubles her. The society accentuates on her
scandal actions to protect animals again ignoring the fact that all her actions
are effective. Finally, nobody
is concerned that women at the age of seventy five look the same as Brigitte
while most celebrities who look slim without any wrinkles would look
differently without numerous plastic surgeries. Brigitte has an influence in
fashion and music. She is the one to popularize a wide open neck that exposes
both shoulders used for knitted sweaters or jumpers. And perhaps she does not
deserve calling a witch? She is perhaps an unhappy woman who lives alone without
a true family but who can lead an honest though eccentric life.
Lingerie for women was just the plain underwear until the 20th century when it became the mean self-expression, as the subject of esthetic admiration. A piece of lingerie seen in between the women wear looked quite shocking to be shame and no one thought of designing luxury items based on lingerie, leaving alone works of art. Today every woman dreams of having a pair, or even more, of luxury and high quality lingerie to associate with sexuality, sensibility and attraction with male.
Today the knitwear is presented in so many styles and
it is so popular that no single autumn and spring collections can do without
hosiery. Knit
women's coats are offered in classic, sporty, romantic, vintage, casual and
ethnic styles. The demand for knit coats
grows in line with the more increasing range of color and texture of woolen
yarn as merino wool, angora, alpaca, Kashmir. Globally known brands launch knit
coats for women in their latest collections and most celebrities today appear
wearing knitwear for many occasions and that's hard to picture that some time
back it was something different.
First established in 1980, the brand by Carolina Herrera is one of the well-known fashion brands; collections by Carolina Herrera make a conquest for the public love and demand due to elegance and delicacy of the fashion wear models. The collections were successful, though Carolina Herrera opened its perfume line first in 1988 presenting Carolina Herrera for Women. Carolina Herrera 212 is known to be the bestseller first launched in 1997, and today this fragrance takes its niche among the most recognized perfumes of the world.
First established in 1860, Chopard is one of the reputed watch and jewelry houses producing incredibly beautiful, fascinating jewelry items and watches of dream. The house also launched a number of celebrated fragrances as Casmir, Wish, Madness and Infiniment. Despite the long and solid history of the brand, it appeared only recently in the market of fragrances with the first fragrance Chopard launched only in 1992. Six years later, in 1996, the Chopard House presented its Mira-Bai, the fragrance which is still in favor among women keen on oriental scents. Mira-Bai shows no intentions to compete with such a fashion-setter in the sphere of oriental compositions as Guerlain Shalimar, though the fragrance by Chopard takes its niche among the classic perfumes in the market of oriental perfume.
