Graff Jewelry Company

Sunday, 21 June 2009

Graff JewelryDiamonds are unmatched gemstones that can beautify virtually everyone. But first it must be properly cut and mounted to change from a rare crystal into a real masterpiece. Some jewelers believe that diamonds round the jewelry out, making it exquisite, sparkling, precious, but at the same time, without a skilful design there would not be a real treasure. Some craftsmen value the beauty of the gem itself - minimal chase but the cut of the stone is absolutely sophisticated. The world famous jeweler Laurence Graff belongs to those art creators who admire the natural beauty of diamonds.

Today, the Graff's Company is leading the way in the world of diamonds turning them into true masterpieces. Laurence Graff believes that diamond is the only gemstone worth attention and admiration. Kings and Queens concur: the Graff's Company is an established diamond supplier for many royal families; and European nobility became customers of this Jewelry House. The most prominent among them are Princess of Monaco, daughters of King of Spain, Prince and Princess of Kent, and, certainly, Queen Elizabeth. Hollywood stars and celebrities, who can afford Graff's diamonds, including Madonna, Ivana Tramp, Sharon Stone, and Gwineth Peltrow, try to keep up with them. Did you know that on St. Valentine's Day Arnold Schwarzenegger picked a present for his wife, Mariah Shriver, in the Graff's boutique&

It's quite surprising that the history of the company which stamps its logo on the diamonds (and it doesn't't matter that it is seen only when magnified ten times - an unprecedented matter in the jewelry business) does not have bicentenary traditions. The company is under fifty - Laurence Graff has founded Graff Diamonds Ltd. in 1960, and in six years this Jewelry House has won one of the most honorary awards in the world - Diamonds International Award in the ‘Best Design' nomination.

However, the design of Graff's jewelry is quite simple. Experts of the company, just like Laurence himself, emphasize the beauty of the stone. The most famous gem quality diamonds have passed through the company: The Idol's Eye (70,21 carats), The Emperor Maximilian (41,94 carats), The Porter Rhodes (54,04 carats), Le Grande Coeur d'Afruque and Le Petite Coeur d'Afrique (70,03 and 25,22 carats), Excelsior (69,68 carats), The Hope of Africa (115,91 carats), The Sarah (132,43 carats), The Star of America (100,57 carats), The Paragon (137,82 carats, the largest and flawless diamond in the world - D class, without inclusions), The Guinea (30 carats an illuminant diamond), The Imperial Blue (natural blue diamond without inclusions), The Empress Rose (pink sparkling diamond).

And certainly, the famous Golconda crowns the collection of the Graff's Company. It has 50 carats. Scientists assure that this stone was placed into the Mughal Emperor's Shah Jahan's ornate Peacock Throne. Located in Agra, the Taj Mahal was a Mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife. Laurence Graff adores stones with fabulous history. At the beginning of Graff's career precious stones and treasures were ordered basically by sheikhs. At that time the tradition to buy jewelry in England was not so advanced as in the East, but Laurence had succeeded to show the real beauty of diamonds to his compatriots.

By the way, Laurence Graff began his career as a businessman, not a jeweler, and in 1973 his company became the number one manufacturer of jewelry in the world which placed its shares on the stock market. In 1973, 1977, and 1994 he got Royal Awards for his achievements in industry and export development, and in 1973 he was the first of jewelers rendered grand honors. In 1976 Laurence Graff redeemed his shares, re-privatised the company, and organized retail business; his first boutique appeared in London's famous Brompton Road, Knightsbridge in 1974. Afterwards, Europe has appreciated Laurence's passion for the most wonderful stones. Nowadays, the company is famous all over the world: diamonds marked with Graff's logo belong to well-known celebrities and Hollywood stars, sheikhs and their wives, royals and tycoons.
