The history of yellow diamonds

We know that the uncut diamond is the precious stone that comes as the diamond after faceting to be loved by women. The legend says that the first diamond was developed forty centuries B.C. in the territory of modern India. In ancient times diamonds were used as magic talismans, and the ancient Romans used them as a tool since it is the hardest stone in the world. Diamonds were first facetted in the XIII century when the stones became polished and lavish. That time the stones were not used as jewels considering that the stone loses the magic features then. The diamonds first saw the light only in 1910 when the technique of diamond polishing was improved. The ratio of developed color and sheer diamonds of the high jewelry quality is approximately one to the one hundred thousand. The color gamut of yellow diamonds is also versatile. The stones come as pale citric yellow or light yellow to flamboyant orange shades as vivid yellow. Here the cost of one carat increases against the intensity of the color.

The diamond masterpieces

The history of the legendary yellow diamond Sancy goes back to 1570. The Frenchman Nicolas Harlai, Seigneur de Sancy, acquired the pale yellow diamond of 55,23 carats from the Turkish jeweler. The stone helped him to build the career from the attorney in Constantinople to the Prime Minister of France. The precious stone traveled from one ruler to another and was then sold in credit to the English King Iakov I to return to the collection of the Bourbons. Since the time of the Great French Revolution the diamond was deemed as lost until it appeared in 1828 in Russia. Therefore, the legendary yellow diamond Sancy traveled around the world until it arrived in Paris in 1978, to the Louver. The American lord Astor is known to sell this stone for a million dollars to enjoy the stone at the Apollo Gallery by the citizens and guests.

Color diamonds are the most luxurious precious stones in the world. Vivid yellow diamond of marquess faceting was sold at Sotheby’s in 1997 for the recorded $3,3 million USD. The stone weighed 13,83 carats.

The biggest yellow diamond of 128,54 carats belonged to the jewelry Company Tiffany & Co. in the late XIX century Charles Tiffany acquired a diamond developed in South Africa of 287 carats. The jeweler Jean Schlumberger cut the diamond as a square in 1960 with 82 facets. The diamond was used as a part to the jewelry, the legendary broche Bird on the Rock made from platinum and gold and incrusted with diamonds of white and yellow color.

The designers of Leviev Company created the fascinating and unusual jewelry item called Leviev Diamond Scarf. This jewel is made as a scarf from the precious metal, incrusted with white and yellow diamonds. 800 high quality stones of the total weight of 298 carats were used for the jewel.

Diamonds loved by celebrities

The show-biz celebrities prefer diamonds among other precious stones, but in warmer yellow colors also, apart from silver shade. The famous Hollywood actress Debra Lynn Messing appeared at the ceremony of Emmy Award wearing a bracelet by Lorraine Schwartz. The diamonds of warm yellow tingle of over one hundred carats were seen on the hand of the actress.

Classic yellow diamonds have always been in, though they get popular thanks to the jeweler Pasquale Bruni. He created the incredible collection of jewelry styled Champagne and Cognac. The pendants, rings, bracelets and necklaces are incrusted with diamonds of any color you want. The price for jewelry ranges from five hundred to several hundred thousand USD depending upon the solidity and bulkiness of accessories.
