glamour magazines say, Victoria Backham, Scarlett Johanson, Angelina
Jolie, Kylie Minogue and Keira Knightley are first among the fortunate and
proud owners of plump sexy lips. There's no surprise, then, that the lips of
these women are the most frequently «copied» by plastic surgeons. So, is there
really a way to have «Angelina's lips» and is the result worth the effort?
Lips correction
helps to restore the lost youth, enhance overall beauty of the face, get rid of
hereditary and acquired defects, and radically change their shape. According to
the purpose, the correction may be surgical and contour.
Surgical correction
is an operative lips correction procedure providing a complete change of lips
shape. Indications are manifold - a harelip, different deformities, neoplasms,
lip asymmetry, and absolute turn-down of the natural shape of the lips.
This type of
surgery requires great precision. It is performed with a lancet under the
general anesthesia. The bandage is taken away in 10-15 days; the scar is almost
invisible and is easily camouflaged with lipstick. The scar is practically absent
when minimal intervention is made, however, in most cases it remains. And needless
to say that surgical correction for solely esthetics reasons (reshaping the lips
and making them look more sexy and attractive) is not approved by physicians.
To reshape the
lips by enhancing their volume contour plastic is performed. The goal of this procedure
is not only fuller lips but also the lifting of hanging corners of the mouth,
the correction of age-induced wrinkles and the accentuation of lip contours. A filling
material is injected into the lips under local anesthesia. The result we can see
every day on TV. Swelling after the procedure heels in several weeks, there are
no scars but the effect is non-durable: the procedure must be repeated in a
year. There are a lot of gel types, the effect and its permanence depends upon
the material chosen.
However,
contour plastic has several disadvantages, the effect of rejection being first
of those. It happens when gel turns out to be antagonistic to the body. Complications
arise due to injections below the lips. Possibilities include infections, skin
necrosis, tissue deformation, swelling or other problems. Immediate surgical
intervention is needed. The problem is that neither expensive gel, nor skilled surgeon
or clinic with spotless reputation can guarantee 100% positive effect.
Another disadvantage
is that nowadays there are a lot of materials of doubtful quality which are
used even in the well-known clinics. The deplorable consequences become known afterwards
- from TV news and photos in the newspapers. Poor quality material may be very harmful
to the health and deprive a woman of natural beauty she only wished to retouch.
Yet another
disadvantage is that almost all «fake lips» look similar. After the procedure the
lips in most cases acquire a distinguishing shape, unnatural origin of which
immediately strikes the eye. That's why Jolie's lips can hardly be copied. Besides,
girls rarely think plump lips would not be a good match, although, such lips look
natural only when all facial features are large.
It may also
be the case that the results do not meet the expectations and the treatment must
be repeated. The transplantation of one's own body fat tissue, or lipofilling,
may cause other complications. First, the procedure is performed under the general
anesthesia, and the number of prospective patients diminishes. Second, after one
session less than a half of transplanted fat cells survive, besides, they
survive nonuniformly, that's why the surface of the lips becomes bruised with
the formation of small bubbles. The procedure is to be repeated several times
and the effect is permanent.
In short,
there are a lot of possibilities to change one's appearance, but ask yourself
is the game is worth the candle. Would you be happy when you pay several
thousand dollars, get two-weeks swelling and possible complications but appear
on the public with «new variation of celebrity lips»? After all, pay attention to
the fact that supermodels who are appreciated thanks to their faces, allow no intrusions
into their individuality.
Neither fashion,
nor apery may be a cause of a crucial appearance change. The surgery may be
undertaken only if you're really ready for change and aware that new lips would
absolutely transform the face, its expression and gestures. This approach is good
when one really likes this new face, only nature has made a small mistake...
