Michele  - question about colors for guest clothing   |2009-05-19 14:34:50
Is there specific ettiquette for guests to avoid certain color clothing? I was told black and white are not appropriate. Is that true?
Inessa  - Colors   |2009-05-19 14:38:34
Black is very much ok. If you wear black sari with tinsel you will be gorgeous. But white is big NO. White is the color of mourning, the color of widow, so don't wear it.
Stacey  - White Girl at an Indian Wedding- HELP! :-)   |2009-10-25 14:55:06
Hello! I have been invited to an Indian wedding and Mehndi. I have two different salwar kameez outfits for the occasions.

I plan to wear the bright pink one to the mehndi and the gold, teal and fuscia one to the wedding.

My question is about jewelry. I LOVE Indian jewelry and have many pieces, however, I have no idea what I should and should not wear to each event. I don't want to overdo it or stand out.

To coordinate with each outfit I have the following:

tikka
earrings
necklace
bangles
anklets
nosering with chain
bindi

Should I wear all of these to both events, or should I only wear a few of the above items? If so, which ones and to which events?

I appreciate your help with this!

I've been invited to a traditional Indian wedding and don't know what to wear! Are there any "rules" regarding how much skin shows or color? Is a black and white strapless dress okay?

Can white be used in the flowers for an indian wedding? My friend is in charge of flowers for her friends wedding and she was told white and black could not be used.

The point is that you look for authentic functional sunglasses which protect eyes from stress and round-eye – from ageing, but not the simple accessory.

Nose piercing is the second popular type of body piercing in the world. this custom was practiced long time ago in the Indian, African and South Pacific cultures. Honestly specking, it was rare till our days when this is trendy to have this small piece of jewelry in the nose. First nose piercing was mentioned back in II thousand years B.C. in India nose piercing is more than popular, it is, moreover, the part of tradition. In 70s of the previous century piercing as a trendy movement seemed to be pretty fashionable among the avant-garde young people who often rebelled against settled conservative traditions and customs.
