Most Vibrant Events Of The New York Fashion Week

new york fashion weekThe Fashion Week that came to its end where the designers presented Spring-Summer 2009-2010 Collections, appeared to be the latest fashion function held in the reputed Bryant Park the place for all Fashion Week arrangements for the last 16 years. In September 2010 the New York Fashion Week moved to the Lincoln Center celebrating the end of the entire epoch related to the Bryant Park. The place provided the tented territory to judge the fashion industry workers, and there new talented designers were first acknowledged, and some were even proposed in love.

In 2004 the owner to a cosmetic brand Mark Bekman made a proposal to the designer Elisa Roy in a very unusual way. On the catwalk all the models presented the designer things and every of them had a plate on them with letters that jointly made the phrase «Will you marry me? ».

The First New York Fashion Week held under the tents in the Bryant Park in 1993 was the pretentious event, by the words of the guests. The Ceremony of Fashion Week Opening was visited by the acting that time mayor of New York David Dinkins with his spouse, the forever editor of the American Vogue Anna Wintour, and the majority of famous designers. By September 1999 the New York Fashion Week became the symbol of glamour: the first rows were always occupied with the famous Hollywood celebrities on the new collection presentations. Though the Fashion Week held in September was rather a tragedy when the hurricane Floyd attacked people in the course of the event in New York. However, it never stopped the numerous fashion trendsetters and followers, and while the hurricane was raging, they courageously went to see the final collection by the Bill Blass brand. The fashion show held under the pelting rain was one of the most memory events.

Fashion Week 2001 was also memorable that occurred just after the tragedy on September 11. Only 24 designers presented their collections in 2001, and on the opening of the Fashion Week the mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg made the speech to honor the victims of September terrorist actions.

The year 2004 became the year when new designers, namely Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez appeared on the American stage and presented their debut collection during the Fashion Week, and were immediately acknowledged as the most gifted beginner designers.

The show by Heatherette fashion brand in 2007 was one of the vivid shows for the 16-year history of Fashion Weeks in New York held in the Bryant Park. The fairy tale about the       Wizard of Oz was used as the decorations for presentation of the collection styled as rock-n-roll glamour of 80s, created by the Heatherette designers where Dorothy was played by Lydia Hearst, and the kind fairy Glynda was played by Amanda Lepore. There was the longest queue in front of the Heatherette tent, since the guests of Fashion Week wanted to see and appreciate the fairy show decorations personally.

The show presented by Donna Karan in 2008 caused the great scandal. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization (PeTA) arranged the grandiose protesting action, while the courageous protesters who managed to climb the runway called Karan «butcher» in public. The policemen who arrived to the Park took the PeTA activists and the collections by Donna Karan presented after an interval deserved the good reviews by fashion critics.  

The regular series of weird events took place in 2009 where the models were injured on the show of the Fall Collection by Herve Leger. Max Azria, the designer, stated afterwards that the reason for that were not extremely high heels and platform shoes for models, but the slick wooden stage. The scandal caused by those to accused of uncomfortable shoes for models and those who cared of injuries incurred by the latter, made the other designer, Brian Rays, to come to a very unusual solution. During the show of Rays's Fall-Winter 2009-10 Collection in New York, the models appeared barefoot.

Last year the Fashion Week in New York celebrated the solemn date- fifty years of the famous Barbie doll. Yet, in the frame of the Fashion Week the grandiose show was held styled Barbie and created by the reputed American designers and brands as Calvin Klein, Rachel Roy, Alexander Wong and Vera Wang.
