 The fashion
industry owes a lot to Helmut Lang to the largest extent. Helmut Lang was born
in Austria.
He is an artist by birth and a minimalist by soul and he showed that fashion
should not bend people to its will while individuality is the priority in
almost every sphere of life. Helmut Lang was one of the dictators of minimalism
style to stand for elegance and chic. Millions of women are thankful to him for
the style promoted by him. His works are lovely to see at runways and
comfortable to wear for every day use and such match is not customary in
fashion world.
Helmut Lang
was born to Vienna
in 1956. He was raised in the family with the conservative traditions and it
was quite difficult to go into the artistic sphere. A young man entered the business
school though secretly he dreamed about the world of fashion with chances to
create clothes of his own. Eventually, Helmut established his business and the
first store where his clothes were presented was opened in 1977. The business succeeded
and a year later Helmut Lang brand launched its first fashion collection. The laconic
style seemed to be the signature of the new-born designer and soon he became
the regular participant at prêt-à-porter shows in Paris
and Milan. The
glory came to Helmut when he opened his first boutique in 1986.
The fashion
couturier worked too hard to prosper in the 90s. The minimalism style was in
favor and Lang felt perfect in it. He was the adherent to moderateness and being
the indefatigable experimentalist, he dared to blend the technological discoveries
with the classic and retro fashion elements. An artist by birth, Helmut followed
only his vision of things and the works appeared too fresh, innovative and
beyond all clichés. The elegant simplicity, minimalist chic symbolized his
attitude to fashion and the signature of him.
He proved
to show that a strict dandy suit is allowed to wear for everyday use without a
shirt under it. A white T-shirt made it practical but still business like and those
models found their niche in collections by Helmut Lang brand. The edge of
clothes lost the completeness thanks to the lack of distinct features and
identification of asymmetry. Black and white, grey and beige matched each other
in every single ensemble.
In the late
1997 Lung completed his works in Europe. Then
the fashion couturier left ParisNew York. In 1998 the
first show of Lang first collection was held in USA. And the launch of the denim
wear line looked practical for that time. Yet, Helmut could not escape from the
spirit of American common sense and freedom though the style of his work as a
designer did not undergo sea changes. for
Early years
of the third millennium were found to be hard for the fashion designer. First,
in 2002 he launched and immediately discontinued the wear line for men. Two
years later the brand Helmut Lang was acquired by Prada Group, the fashion
industry giant. This challenged seemed to be the new and fresh turnabout for
success and the favorable way to create for the designer. However, something failed
and in 2005 Helmut Lang left his own company breaking all business relations
with the brand that he raised from the first roll of thread and scissors. And both
the designer and the brand came into the new epoch. The Helmut Lang brand invited
Nicole and Michael Colovos to hold the position of creative designers who launched
their debut collection for spring-summer 2007.
In spite of
the fact that the Fashion house lost its owner, the new couple contributed to
keep the signature style of the house unchanged. They tried to have the vision
of the couturier the same as if working under his supervision since Helmut Lang
did a lot to make his name associate with haute couture. The same colors,
moderate design, few jewelry and asymmetry are seen in all Helmut Lang
Collections 2010, inclusively.
Despite the
season the style is still similar and the only collection 2010 for summer wear
includes some vivid insertions of blue-sky color which look incredibly elegant
without any designer elements. The designers proposed the image of a sensible
woman for the autumn-winter season who cannot do without leggings and
asymmetric volumetric top.
Helmut Lang
never lost his aspiration to create various images. He is still an artist,
perhaps in new interpretation, and currently he exhibits his works at the world
level.
The story
about this person is incredible. He was seen keen on clothes design and still he
rejected everything at the high point
of glory and fame. Anyway, he is happy today and he still creates following the
rules of minimalism as the base of the perfect style.
