It is an essential component of the basic substance of the connective tissue, the synovial fluid (fluid found inside the cavities of synovial joints), the vitreous humour that is located between the lens and the retina of the eyeball. There is a lot of hyaluronic acid in the skin, bone, heart valves and the ovum.
The basic functions of hyaluronic acid in the organism
Hyaluronic
acid retains water in the intercellular spaces, thereby increasing the
resistance of tissue against contraction. One molecule of hyaluronic
acid retain and holds up to about 500 molecules of water. It is
involved in the transportation and distribution of water in the tissue.
Hyaluronic acid determines the barrier and protective functions of the
intercellular space. Inside the joints, it acts as a lubricant for the

such as the thinning of the skin, increased intraocular pressure, age
diseases of the joints start to appear with age. Simultaneously, the
link between the cell surface and the deeper layers of the skin, and
the blood tissue start damaging. Their resistance to external

Hyaluronic acid drugs
Nowadays,
hyaluronic acid is produced in the form of medical drugs of two kinds.
There are drugs of animal origin, which is extracted directly from
animal tissues. The second type of hyaluronic acid drugs are
synthesized with a specially deduced micro organism that is harmless to
the human organism. These are more modern drugs that contain a set
molecular structure. They possess full infectious safety and low
allergenicity.
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is the
restoration of the skin and subcutaneous fat through the means of an
intracutaneous injection of biologically active substances. Hyaluronic
acid is often used for mesotherapy. This is an effective means of
treating age-related changes, inflammatory processes and scars on the
skin. In this case, hyaluronic acid stimulates metabolic processes in
cells and in intercellular space of the skin. It promotes the formation
of new blood vessels in the area. Mesotherapy with the use of
hyaluronic acid should be regularly conducted, since it is quickly
included in the metabolic processes and completely resolve within 2-3
weeks (the more the skin is dehydrated, the quicker). A full

The

acid that is introduced under the skin or muscle forms a liquid
substance and causes the skin to smoothen. Hyaluronic acid (for
example, the well-known restylane drug) is introduced intramuscularly,
subcutaneously or intracutaneously. It fills empty spaces and cavities
and starts to retain water. This injection leads to an increase in the
quantity of this compound at the area where the injection was done. The
skin at this area flattens and smoothens, thereby reducing wrinkles.
