 The story
of the old brand of Wendox watches dates far back to the old Oxford, the
University town and Robert Jones, a watch maker, lived there. He owned a number
of jewelry stores named Vendox meaning Vendors of Oxford. His family was exclusively
trading in jewelry though the head of the family approved his son, Samuel Jones
when he decided to open a private watch making workshop in 1842.
That was the
time of watch boom when the watch making industry came to mechanic production
and thus, quite a lot of people could afford personal watches. Yet, this item quitted
being a luxury item but a need, so even grocery workers and ordinary clerk
could wear them. Highly increased production of watches did not affect their quality
since only the base production was automated when the main units were made
manually, and thus qualified watchmakers were needed again. When ordinary
watches became available for everyone watchmakers created new models matching
the requirement to time-keeping and esthetics to enjoy the thing showing
artistic skills in jewelry, and again those watches were made for the elite.
When Samuel
Jones opened his Wendox watchmaker, it came to the peak of new wind in watch
industry. Unlike other Swiss watchmakers that longed to achieve high goals in watch
mechanisms accentuating upon accuracy, exact pieces and many new functions,
Samuel used ready models of watch makers and personified them with unique
design perceived in the jewelry shop of his father. Therefore, Wendox Company has
always distinguished with accuracy and reliability of watches and unique
design.
Samuel had his
own opinion on exclusivity and luxury and he longed for high quality and original
design of his watch brand. And he put high attempts to make watches affordable by
the wide range of consumers keeping quality and attractiveness for ordinary people.
And Wendox Company till now adheres to the pattern and the idea of
not-expensive and quality watches.
Currently Wendox
Company masters use titanium, steel and leather (for wristlet) in their works. And
of sure, these models stand out for creative model of watches. For instance, 3701
Titanium resembles plane page board with black dial plate with contrasting
digits, hands and marks while Wendox 80123 looks like a solid but comfortable
steel handcuff, being made of stainless steel.
Mechanisms
of Wendox Company of Swiss ETA 955.414 and ЕТА 280.002 and Japanese mechanism
Miyota 2115 and reliability are two principal features of Wendox Company. Many models
are designed with water-resistance function, with the function to resist high and
low temperature with the same urban design matching both classic and democratic
style of wear.
In the early
'90s of the twentieth century many mechanic watch making companies became
bankrupt, the Wendox Company was seeking for new ways to progress and
prosperity still loyal to the idea and quality of their watches.
That was
the time when the branch of the Company was established in Hong Kong to produce
LCD products like alarm clocks with EL lighting, wall digital watches, thermometers,
weather stations, digital compass and many other goods.
New technologies
were easily mixed with British conservatism even in watch industry. Therefore,
the market offers quality and comfortable and not very expensive watches
perfectly designed. Currently the goods of Wendox Company won fame and love among
people the world over thanks to high quality for reasonable price.
