Her designs are great example of great combination that blends traditional techniques with new aesthetics. Having contemporary exciting outlook and crafting styles, Backlund's «slow fashion» got popularity around the world.

Sandra Backlund could be simply called nothing but a real «artist designer». This fashion designer appears with different look in the realm of vogue world. She gives a new outlook in knitted clothing. Backlund's knitwear collections bear sometimes incomprehensible designs and sometimes sculptured fantasy. She showed a lot of collections in different times. Among them, the «Don't Walk» held some excellent collections which comprised completely with red knits.

Her business is with the creation of fascinated designs by heavy wool. Each of her designs is handmade but kept higher level of artistic skills. Most of the Backlund's designs, however, go with traditional silhouette ringing different looks and styles. Her passion is to keep pace with creative line and eye-catching shapes as well.

So, Backlund's creations identified her not as a fashion designer but a sculptor indeed.

Backlund even acknowledges that her works are very personal to her where practical things are not always appeared with her designs. However, her unusual designs were come into sight in many weekly and fortnightly magazines like Italian Vogue, Nylon, i-D etc.

Despite Backlund's work does not go with practical day wear, her designs proved it how slow fashion could uphold traditional techniques blending new aesthetics. 

And if you look at Backlund's personal life you see, it is a little bit surprise indeed for Sandra Backlund to be a fashion designer as she studied earlier fine arts, textile and then art history. And finally she turned herself into a fashion world. Backlund enlisted her name at the Beckman's School of Design placed in Stockholm. However, her diversified background has been guided her to create intricate works, beautifully designs in the line of vogue.  

Most interestingly, Backlund confesses she is an extremely hard working woman who is inspired by the moments, stories from her own life. And the funny thing is that Backlund's childhood dream was to be a hair stylist. And if he would not be a fashion designer, she considered herself being an owner of vintage store.

She was very much fond of art, crafts and photography before entering the designing realm. Though she is not confirmed what particular thing persuaded her to be a fashion designer but she decided to enter into fashion world when she was just nine. People like Azzedine Alaia, is a fashion idol to Backlund who approach fashion as an expression of art rather than commercial reason. 

Backlund's work is fully aesthetic. Using warm and woolly garments, she explores human form through her fashion works. To seek lively shapes, she said that she consciously dresses the parts of the body.

As Backlund exceptionally made her fashion items, so customers may find the garments four times more price than any other pieces available in the stores. And whatever the prices are, customers can find through Backlund's collection not only the garments of art but also handmade pieces that hold innovativeness and trendy mood.

The knitwear designer was given many prestigious awards. And for the first time, she was given NewGen sponsorship by The British Fashion council in 2009.
