Chemical Peeling: you want to change your skin?

Thursday, 16 April 2009

chemical peelingLadies, the scientific-and-technological advance is already in our life. New procedures, preparations and other almost mystical staff to preserve and increase our beauty. And the noveltiesappearevery day, if not every hour. Thousands of companies all over the world just long to save the beauty of the softer sex. And their promises come from TV and computer screens, they are heard in the headphones and see on the walls of beauty saloons.

Chemical peeling is not an invention and it is closely enveloped by gossips, images created by PR-agencies and idle talks. So, let's see what is what in the core of the problem.

Thus, a chemical peeling is one of the popular and well-spread skin peeling procedures. The name itself says the same since the term «peeling» from the English verb ‘to peel' means ‘to remove a layer, some skin' (similar to ‘scrub' and ‘exfoliate').

The origin of exfoliation procedure (especially of this chemical procedure) is vague. Some saloon experts ascertain that in the ancient times Cleopatra, the Empress, applied various chemical reagents to her big-nosed face. As a result she never got older until she died from committing a suicide. You may want to believe in this myth, of course. But it is my personal opinion that so many things were attributed to Cleopatra that she could hardly try all these still once in her short life.

Well, the point is not the Empress of Egypt, though. The point is the interaction of epidermis and active purifiers, like acids, minerals and clays.

So, what happens to your skin during this popular procedure? Weak solutions of acids evenly exfoliate the epidermis layers causing accelerated synthesis of collagen and thus increasing elasticity and tone of your skin. Then the action of acid is neutralized.

Being rough enough, chemical peeling acts as an ordinary burn. And the extent to which you want your face burnt depends on concentrations of acids and their impact.

Three types of peeling are known, that is shallow, medial and deep.

Shallow peeling is a sparing, all but painless, though the result is also not very promising. Shallow peeling is performed in several courses of 4 to 10 sessions. A number of sessions depends the type of skin, point of tasks to be solved and they are performed once in 7-12 days. Besides, within the entire course you are subject to a follow-up therapy at home with the help of acids of low concentrations. In most cases this is a peeling by fruit acids (alfahydrooxide). These acids are normally extracted from grapes or sugar cane, and the methodic, concentration of acids and number of procedures are defined by the doctor-dermatologist or dermato-cosmetologist. The indications include problems with oily skin and pimples spots.

Medial peeling uses trichloroacetic acid of low concentration (10%); it affects medial layers of the epidermis, gives significant results and is done three to four times with 10-14 days interval. As an alternative, a peeling with glycolic acid is considered.

Glycolic acid is used to turn the watches back and get a bit younger, to remove fine facial wrinkles and in particular, under eyes. Two-week therapy is enough to remove fine mimic wrinkles. Sometimes after application of glycolic peeling ladies suffer from edema and redness that go away within a day.

A deep peeling results in remaining of only Malpighian layer the main task of which is regeneration of the cutaneous skin.  This technique is used to remove fine wrinkles, scars or cicatrices. It is made only in the hospital. The effect of face rejuvenation is striking but very painful. You will get better in about a month since after a deep peeling you  edema, then a white panniculus and then redness. And it is important to use relaxing creams with antioxidants. When you are home, you need to apply sedatives with antioxidants. You must apply moisturizer or moister cream to meet a lack of moist and remove the feeling of skin stiffness.

One of the advantages of the chemical peeling is deep influence and therefore the result is long-lasting. During this procedure women feel prickling, and this case the acid is neutralized to avoid burning. Nevertheless, a lot depends on your skin sensitivity.

And it is important to realize where to stop and employ chemical peeling not so frequent.

And I wonder how to use all the benefits of this procedure and survive? And you will be recommended to have it since the promises are made by approved saloons, acknowledged masters, proven means. And the skin tested for allergic reaction. And how to prove all this?

Yet, this is the weakest point. Only to have it on ...your own back. And only like this.
