Depending on seasonal variations, geographical locations, religious and cultural customs and even in colors, textures and styles, garments are classified into separate dresses worn by Indians that have been transforming from generation to generation.

Indian women clothing consisted of designer sarees, Salwar Kameez, Ghagra Choli, lengha, churidar along with innovative trendy garments such as tunics, skirts, shirts, pants, suits used as professional outfits highlights the wear splendor and grandeur. Lehenga, also known as Ghagra Choli is the eye striking ethnic Indian women attire worn by the women living in Gujarat and Rajasthan which are most popular as bridal attires in the urban parts of India.

Sharara, like a pant fitted till the knee with a big flare from the knee onwards is well known to the Muslim ladies. This item comprised of a long flowing skirt, a blouse or choli and a dupatta for covering the head.

Worn as a symbol of modesty, dupatta, a long rectangular, scarf-like cloth is very familiar to all over the Indian society that is made from various fabrics, like cotton, silk, georgette, chiffon etc.

For the men, on the other hand, kurta (like a loose long shirt almost reaching the knees), pajama (a lightweight drawstring trouser), dhoti, lungi (a garment worn around the waist) are the traditional attires worn on both formal and informal occasions. Similarly, Sherwani (an immaculately designed coat with a close body fit fastened in the front with buttons) is supposed to be for wedding and party attire worn over a kurta and a churidar, or khara pajama or a salwar.

Moreover, bearing a cultural trademark, turban, a headdress consisting of long scarf-like single piece of cloth, donned around the head keeping up with a lot of dignity and honor.

Indian clothing holding exquisite embroidery, beadwork, and tie-dye fashions are transforming to the western style by hands of renowned designers in recent times while traditional sarees turn into Bollywood sarees with eye catching sophisticated layouts and designs.
