Manish Malhotra fashion designer The person who enriched the Fashion Industry and Film Industry of India by his creative designs is none other than Manish Malhotra. Born in a family of economically middle class status in Punjab in 1965 he was fascinated with the fashions from his early days of life though nobody in his family was well-known to the style of clothing. During his student life in Mumbai's Elphinstone College he got a few assignments relating to modeling that he completed successfully. Even though he felt interest in fashion design his father wished Manish to look after his business. Without paying heed to his father's advice he paid attention to create something on his own. 

Self-confidence about his talent took him to the peak in the field of fashion design in spite of having no specialized schooling on it as he had no enough money to carry out his educational expenses. Failing to have higher education on fashion, he devoted himself to fashion design for Bollywood. Within a very short time, he gained huge popularity as a designer for the film industry.

He got his inspiration about fashion design from every sphere of life such as reading magazines, going social parties, watching movies etc. And gradually he started working as a model by profession and then through joining a fashion house Equinox in Bandra from where he learnt how to make design, sales, customer services and display. He designed not only for the elite class but also for the ordinary people.

With rich background designing he turned into a promising movie director and planned to engage himself in script for his preparing directorial venture in 2008, which would be like the cinema in the seventies.

First hit

In 1990 Manish, turning 25, started his career through getting the chance to design the costumes for fascinating Juhi Chawla who appeared in Swarg, a film of Bollyhood. He gained popularity when he designed the outfits for mesmerizing Urmila Matondkar who acted in the film named Rangeela. Manish repeatedly showed his success in the design of Karishma Kapoor's attire and lifted her position through Raja Hindustani. At the same time he also designed a few attires for Sridevi that added another feather to his success. Consequently the outfits designed by Manish smartened many actresses of film industry of India.

In a few years, he climbed to the top of his profession by his triumphant achievement in the fashion arena and gave the Bollywood a completely new look.

Enormous success in the costume design in Bollywood encouraged Manish to enter the mainstream designing field in 1998 when he established Reverie, a couture store with high profile and his own designing studio Sheetal that received an implausible response

Apart from making attires with attractive design for Juhi Chawla and Urmila Matondkar, he made designs for almost all top actresses' outfits like Sridevi, Shilpa Shetty, Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta.

He got specialized in women attire with modern styles. The glamorous design of outfits in Bollyhood means the design of Manish Malhotra.

Although he is very known to be a designer of women attire, he has made attire for male actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan on several occasions.

Bridal attires

Manish not only designed attires for the Bollyhood stars but also he designed the wedding trousseaus for some of the most beautiful and high profile people in the country including Vilasrao Deshmukh's Family, Narayan Rane's Family, Praful Patel's Family,  Ruia's Family, Sharmila Thackrey, Neerja Birla, the Dhoot Family, the Hinduja Family, etc. He has also designed trousseaus for several weddings of effluent families from in Indoneasia, Dubai, London, Canada, America, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore and all across the globe.

Clientele

The Manish's salon received a tremendous response from elite client list like Parmeshwar Godrej, Tanya Godrej, Tina Ambani, Haseena Jethmalani, Rhea Pillai, Avanti Birla and Sheetal Mafatlal

Merged foreign actors and actress

The most popular media celebrity Naomi Campbell wears Manish's outfits. Michael Jackson was also fascinated with design made by Manish when he visited India for a Bollywood show. Apart from them, Hollywood stars Reese Witherspoon Jean Claude Van Damme were the client of Manish.

Award

In his career spanning 18 years he has received nearly 34 awards for his marvelous workings. For the first time he was awarded Filmfare Costume Award for Urmila Matondkar's costumes in Rangeela, the Showtime Opinion Poll Award for his beautiful look for Karisma Kapoor in Raja Hindustani.

In 2008 the fashion designed and styled by Manish for Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om won the Apsara Awards in Mumbai, the Lux Zee Cine Awards in London and the IIFA awards in Bangkok. Besides, he won many famous awards for his contribution to the fashion industry. 

Show

To promote his creation, Manish Malhotra organized the first fashion show in November 1999 and his new collection was showcased at Lakme Fashion Week in April 2006 in Mumbai. His Winter Couture 2007 collection in November, 2007 was uncovered at Manish Malhotra Store at Jumeirah in Dubai.

Besides, annual Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Spring/Summer 2008 was held at the National Center of Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai in October, 2007.
